Sweeeeet. I remember Sven COOP on the HL engine. Gonna give this a go.

Just need NS2 and The Specialists Source now!

But apparently NS2 isn't going to be on the HL2 engine and they aint making a new Specialists so :(
 
this is still on the half life engine I believe starfighter... Just a new version of it. Sven Coop 2 is the unfinished source version.

It's a Half Life co-op mod. Basically, it's like a collective of single player style maps that you play through with other people online. Best played with friends, and lots of them as the maps tend to be aimed at having lots of people playing.

Man I loved The Specialists! Despite being distinctly average at most HL based games, I was absolutely wtfpwn awesome at it! Topped the scoreboard nearly every game! :D .
 
Why did they waste their time on this rather than the source version?, I doubt many
people will want to put up with the 1998 graphics anymore.
 
Downloaded, was just playing through doom on it lol.
I remember when Sven Co-op first got released, great days. Sure I've got an early alpha on one of my backup discs!

Still the best engine ever imo.

Can't stand the clunkiness of HL2, feels like ur wearing lead boots and all the maps seems to have the same old dreary nova prospekt type architecture, it's so uninteresting compared to the vibrant black mesa laboratories of the original. The co-op mods Synergy and Follow Freeman were both a big dissapointmen as is the HL2 mod scene in general, so I'm kinda glad they opted to dedicate their time to the original.

Sure the release could've done with a few more new maps but the new models/textures/sounds etc still make it a refreshing and enjoyable game, even 10 years on!

Can you still play through the HL1 campaigin in co-op with this version? Still yet to play it co-op.

Downloading anyway.
 
we all just have to hope that blackmesa gets finished, a complete remake of the first half life game but with updated graphics and co op :)

half life one engine was indeed great, and a lot of people are more interested in gameplay than graphics
