We were supposed to be going on holiday today. Came downstairs at 6am to find keys all over the kitchen floor, car stolen along with wallet, passports and euros we'd left out ready for an early flight. They'd broken in through the back door - none of us, including the dog, heard a thing :(

Copper that came round said there had been three houses done in the same way last night, one of them just around the corner.

Car has since been found in Bradford thanks to tracker, but no idea yet if any damage.

Spent the whole day cancelling things, changing locks and speaking with insurance companies, when I should have been chilling with a nice cold beer in Malaga.

More than a bit gutted, mostly about the holiday until I know what state the car is in, but at least they never made it to the garage and bike.

Also they never found the expensive Whiskey - there may not be much left of it by the end of tonight!

Trump has a point - we should build a great wall and get West Yorkshire to pay for it ;)

So sad to here that mate. Not surprised it was found in Bradford. A lot of cars getting stolen at the moment especially ilkley/Harrogate way.

Ouch. That sucks. Hopefully insurance will cover everything and travel insurance the holiday.

Hope the car is in a good condition. If they had the keys it shouldn't be too bad.

Also, it's time to get a better dog. ;)

That's awful. And about as bad timed as it could be. But at the end of the day at least cars and money can be replaced.

Pretty crazy that no one heard anything especially the dog. You might need a dog with better hearing!

Sounds convenient that it was just before your holiday... sure it isn't somebody you know?

Well if they have done three other houses I would put it down to an unfortunate coincidence!

OP, even if the car is 'ok' are you sure you want it back? Not sure I would after this.

Forgot to ask OP. Doesn't your house have a alarm you set at night to monitor rooms you are not in?

I don't think I have a choice do I? I assume if it's undamaged it will just be returned. I could have course sell it myself, which I've considered, but it would be quite a loss to swallow at the moment

Sorry to hear that.

It was only yesterday that I was discussing with a friend how nice life would be if we didn't have to worry about thieves.
