I downloaded the demo of XBLM (took bloody ages), played through, and was thoroughly underwhelmed by the whole affair. It seems a rather generic corridor third person shooter. The lightsaber combat seemed much better handled in ye olde Jedi Knight series, and although the force powers are fun, I still rate this a Meh.

Any thoughts?

Thought it was pretty pants imo. The demo hardly made me want to go out and buy it at all. Something just felt amiss, alongside the stupid AI.

The latest games(tm) popper through my door and they've given it 7/10:

"This may not be the greatest video game ever created, but as a means of telling an untold Star Wars chapter it performs exceptionally".

I enjoyed it up until the quick time sequence at the end. If there's not too many of those in the full game, I might give it a spin - I'll probably pick it up on the cheap though.

I didn't enjoy it - was pretty boring and was only fun when you worked out the mechanics of smashing a stormtropper into a wall a few times.

They make the same sound as when you hit your head on a car boot - I swear!

I admit I was underwhelmed when I first played it, but seriously, play it again - it gets loads better the more combos you discover - like square, triangle, circle for a really cool saber/lightning/push combo :D

I too thought it was rather dull. Thought the visuals were nice, but it definatly is not as good as Jedi Knight 2 for example.

Personally I like it and will probably pick it up on release day. That said it doesn't look from the demo like it will be something that will last for multiple playthroughs, and the levels/points system sounds interesting on paper but I suspect there will be a given template/set of skills that are just fundamentally better than everything else. We'll see I guess.

I'm pretty optimistic that this will at least be as good as Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II in terms of story. Game play mechanics shouldn't be compared to Outcast or Jedi Academy as this is obviously far more force based than they ever were.

Actually, having just compared it to Jedi Knight I'm now really excited :D
