Swap factory head unit

I have an 09 (pre-facelift, Mk 4) Mondeo Titanium X Sport with the Sony 6CD DAB head unit.

I want to swap it out for the NX unit from a facelift (Mk 4.5) Mondeo.

Is this do-able? What parts do I need to buy and where's the best place to source one of these units? I've searched eBay and all I get are those Chinese after market units.
 
The facelift nav units are a bit like hens' teeth unfortunately. I'm keeping an eye out myself as I am considering upgrading mine in the future. They're not cheap either.

To upgrade from the Sony unit you'll need a GPS antenna at the very least. I'm unsure of the wiring as it's not something I've looked in to. You'll also probably need a relevant modified USB OBD lead and ELMconfig (google it) to tell the car it's present and correct, also.

Yeah I've noticed! I imagine they are a good few hundred quid.

From the research I've done, it looks like you need to get head unit, fascia and climate control panel. If you don't get the climate control panel, you can use your existing one and keep it behind the controls.

The worry was the buttons along the top currently (heated windscreen, heated rear window, parking sensors, etc) would be relocated to the bottom. Thankfully it sounds like the cables are long enough to reach down there. It also sounds like it should be a straight swap but if you wanted the sat nav to display on Convers+, you need to take it to a Ford dealer for them to activate it.

I've ordered the parts to retrofit USB to my current setup which would still remain if I upgraded so that's not wasted.
