Hi all,

Anyone know if this is a straight swap? My 6000rds' radio has died, all I get is static. So I'm looking to replace it with a 6006 (6 disc changer version). Are the connections the same as the 6000 or will I need to make any changes?

cheers

Should be fine as a swap. If i was you i would get a different head unit as the sound quality (even on the stock speakers) improved vastly with just getting a better head unit in my Focus.

Out of interest how much you getting the 6006 for?

However much I can get it for on ebay.

Seriously though, I was thinking of replacing the head unit with someone else but can't be bothered with the extra faffing about filling the .8 din whole left in the dash. (focus head units are 1.8 din not 2).

If I do decide to dump the 6006 idea and get something else it would have to be an mp3 unit ....

You can get blanking plates for the gaps left :)

just a warning- a lot of the 6006's on ebay are likely to be nicked as theft of them is pretty common (due to it being a good upgrade for all the ford range apart from the ka as the ka has a different facia).

New they're about £300+ from ford.

Just get the correct colour blanking plate for your car like i did in my Focus. I also use to have a 6000 but im so please i paid for a nice Pioneer one, much better sound and still looks good.

and if you do buy a 6006 be very careful with the discs, as the loading mechanism is prone to breakages. have had quite a few in for repair, and i wouldnt like one in my car :(

ok already... I'm going to dump the 6006 idea and look at a third party HU. I've seen on ffoc.co.uk that you can create a single din conversion to fill the space left by the 6000 so it's off to halfords in the morning ...

my friend had a ford mondy and now a ford focus and has gone from a 6000 - 6006 in both with no probs at all. steering controls remain intact and the unit works exactly as it was deigned to. :)
