When I press the power button The CPU fan spins for a split second the stops. Nothing else seems to spin or work.

I have a green light on my mobo p5q pro and new case is antec 300.

I counted 10 mobo standoffs and 9 screws. Realised antec had pre installed some. So stripped out all out and tried again. But removing the extra standoff.

Same deal. Checked connections.

Where do I start :(

Help please :) :(

Damo

Have you checked the back of the motherboard for any damage the extra standoff may have caused?

Two patches on the rear of the mobo. Look like dusty area or White/Greyish.

They line up with the sata connections and the
Near the 8 pin area.

Its a quad core cpu same socket as the one your using. I said you could have it...as in free lol. Just need to find out if indeed your cpu is dead or your motherboard. Either way the offer stands :-)

Blimey!

Speechless really. Problem is I don't know anyone who is into pc's and I don't have a h spare parts. I don't have anything really.

Is there anyway to find out if the mobo is dead or CPU? Or is it a case of swapping parts out?

What do you guys think I should do now?

Thanks for all the help.

I shed a few tears last night :( I JUST had enough money to buy a case and two fans. As I am just getting into pc gaming. Was playing world of tanks. Dave sold me an gts250 for £25 and while playing the game. It felt like I was playing a £10000 pc compared to my 360 :(

This sounds eerily similar to what happened to me when I was swapping a AM2+ setup between cases, i'm like wtf?. I had to buy a new mobo in the end:mad:

Bringtherain, have you taken eveything out of the case and built it all up on a table without using the new case at all? i.e. Skeleton build with minimum components?

Ideally I need someone from OCUK to come am have a look and I can pay them (not in kind) it wouldnt be a lot lol. Just to cover fuel and a drink :D

And then I would pay them more later on down the line (sept)

I'm in bedfordshire ;) HELP ME OCUK :p

ram,SSD and GPU will be fine (90+%). Just get a replacement/similar mobo and you'll be good to go! Shame I used to live in dunstable or I would have helped you out.
