Swapping GPU slots?

Hi,

As mentioned in lots of other threads I have started.... I am a complete PC noob. So this question is probably laughable to most of you :p

I want to put my GPU into the second card slot so that I can actually see the RGB strip on my motherboard.

Is it as simple as powering the machine off, swapping slots, then powering it back on? or do I need to do something more?

ps. I cant control the RGB lights on the GPU (GTX 1070 G1 Gaming) even when I click "apply" in the software. I read on a thread that putting the GPU in the second slot might solve this. So two birds one stone hopefully....

Well then, are you sure you're you or are you actually your twin?

@Andy_Curtis which motherboard is it? Should be fine but it will most likely be going from a PCIe x16 lane slot to an x8 one, but performance wise it won't make any significant difference.

Also, is this with the Aorus Graphic Engine software?

The MoBo is an ASUS B350-F. I use the Aurora software for controlling the Mobo, LED strip, and one case fan. But it doesn't change the GPU. According to many blogs, the Nvidia Geforce Extreme should control it. It recognises it and lets me set RBG colours. But doesn't actually do it when I click "apply"
