Forgive me if I come accross a bit dumb but I want to change from BT to SKY for our broadband but in what order do I proceed?

I can get a mac code from BT so do I just give Sky the code and then they bill me for the adsl or do I have to cancel bt first?

Im also thinking about having sky do the line rental also.

If you cancel BT, the MAC key will be useless and you'll have to start from scratch. Give Sky the MAC and leave it at that.

Moving the line rental might cause issues - it depends how Sky do it.

Well I had our faulty line repaired but bt decided to set my profile really low and I have tried over and over again to get it reset back to what it was and they just wont listen.

They even tried to offer me a reduced monthly fee if I went into another contract.

So you reckon I should leave the line alone for now and just give sky the mac code. Once sky take over the dsl does that mean I have to still contact bt?

You're mixing up two separate parts of BT - BT Wholesale (responsible for your IP profile) and BT Retail (your ISP). They're as distinct as Sky is from BT.

If you give Sky the MAC key, your ADSL service will be moved to Sky...

Will do :)

Thanx for the help m8. Im just so clueless these days, dunno whats up with me but I used to dish out advice years ago but these days im forever asking for it. Must be old age or im fed up with computers in general.
