Swapping left to right on headphone channels?

As my rig is set up, I have to have my headphones on the 'wrong' way round for the headphone lead not to keep getting in the way. Trouble is, the stereo effect is wrong. Makes it a pain when gaming as I keep jumping the wrong way!
Can't find anywhere to just swap the left and right setting round, either in Win 7 or Realtek HD manager.
Anyone know if this can be done?
Ta.

I have a similar issue with my speakers. In order to keep the cables hidden out of sight i need the right speaker closest to the tower, which is on the left.

I haven't found a software solution yet, but i could get a 3.5mm extension. I'm guessing that wouldn't help in your situation.

Had the same problem with the speakers as well, just ended up with some very long leads going under the carpet!
Am seriously looking at re-wiring the headphones now, easy but just such a pain when software could handle the prob.
Thanks anyway.

do they pluginto the soundcard or into the front of your case. It would be easy to rewire the pins going into the front of the case

Eeek, not with my soldering skills! Recipe for disaster, much easier to just re-wire the headphone jack.
Then send a copy of this thread to Windows marked for the attention of the Dept of the Bleedin' obvious. :D

Rather than mess up your headphones, go purchase a short 3.5mm extension and rewire that. Or get a longer extension and route the wire where it works conveniently.

Can you not just get an extension and tack it/gaffer tape tape it to the underneath of the desk so that it comes out somewhere more convenient?

Thought about the 3.5 extension, trouble is it will poke out too much. I just know I'll end up wiping it out with my clutzy foot! Already bashed the normal jack once..
Good idea about the lead Mark M, except I kind of lie prone with my legs up underneath the desk and on top of a sub woofer where the cable would have to go. Imagine the fun getting up in a hurry with legs tangled together with curly cable. Sounds contorted but it works for me. Arf!

i know this thread is a bit old but 3.5mm extension cables are a right pig to solder.

I plug my hifi in for speakers but wanted the 2.0 for earphones too. the amp is pretty far away from my rig so i just got a little plastic box, drilled a few holes, and soldered a switch, two 3.5mm stereo sockets and a cable i made with a big thick easy to solder wire and a 3.5mm plug on it together with 5a mains cable (i'd use cheap bell wire if i made it again)

yours would be even easier.. two panel mount sockets and a bit of cheap or salvaged (preferably easy to solder copper) wire, in a tiny box cost ya maybe 2 quid to make then plug a 3.5mm male-male extension wire with a 90 degree end on it in so you dont kick it so much.. hide the box out of the way

job done
