Bit of a noobish question but...

Ive just bought a new mobo and also treated my self to a new harddrive.

I plan on doing a clean install of XP on the new drive. The old drive contains a lot of data, can I reconnect it once the new drive is up and running and simply move files from the "old" drive to the "new" in windows. Then wipe the old drive and use it as an extra drive.

yes you can :)

don't connect it when you're installing windows, always best to just have 1 drive connected for that

it'll show up as E: once you boot into the new install (assuming cd drive is d: )

-edit, if you get any 'access denied' messages when trying to access files on it, google take ownership of a folder and use the microsoft link, this is just NTFS security (to stop other local users on that install from seeing your files), it's not always active though
