From a 670 to 970, do I still have to uninstall drivers and stuff or can I just swap them and everything be hunky dory (hopefully).
 
Just uninstall the driver, power down your system and remove the old card. Install new card, once in windows reinstall the nv drivers.
 
download the latest Nv drivers, go through to install , and TICK the box that says do a clean install . jobs done
