swapping out PSU fans

Time to get a new PC. Rather than just going for an overclocking-friendly one, this time I'm going for overclocking and silent! The last one I built (from components bought at OcUK) has a Tagan Turbojet 1100W PSU. I realize now this was way overkill, so I dont see the need to get a new one. But is does make one hell of a racket.

My thoughts are to replace the fans (2x 80mm) in the PSU with some quality low noise fans - the Noctuas. However, I have been googling for images of the Noctua and for the Tagan with the case off, and Im a bit concerned the fans wont fit - they will be too deep. How deep are these fans are they likely to fit ?

Anyone know of any gotchas with doing PSU fan replacements ( other than the obvious one of getting zapped - I will be taking precautions)? I have read in a few places while I have been researching this that some people cant get the fans to go - something to do with not enough power to kick start the fans. Anybody know anything about that?

Thanks in advance for your response, everyone.

One thtng is that you'd be voiding your warranty by doing so...have you thought about selling it? You'd get a great price for it, and could go and buy a 620 or 750 watt Corsair.

Hmm, it didn't even occur to me to sell it. Normally the bits I don't need for my new builds usually go in a box in the cupboard - so I'm probably sitting on a goldmine! Seriously, it was quite expensive when I bought it as I recall so hopefully it has retained some value. Ill check it out.
