Here's the thing.
I have a smallish 13" laptop , with SSD drive and Win 8.1 on. Its my own Win 8.1 with licence
Its fine, no issues, but i'm going to buy a 2nd hand 17" laptop as i'm looking for a bigger screen.
Now then, the laptop i'm looking at ( 2nd hand ) has an SSD drive too, but it has Win 10 installed. I simply want to remove my 13" laptop Win 8.1 SSD and swap out the 17" laptop SSD with Win 10, but i believe this will not work, as the the motherboard has files on it when Win 10 was installed.
So, if i use my copy of Win 8.1 and format / install Win 8.1 on the 17" SSD first, overwriting the Win 10 install, could i then remove that SSD, and plug my Win 8.1 SSD into the 17" laptop, and it will work ok ?
