Swapping SIM card - should I need to change any settings?

I've been with bt mobile for years, which uses the EE network. About a month ago my phone signal at work, which had always been poor stopped working entirely. I figured that it might be an issue with local antenna, but after a few weeks it didn't get better so I decided to swap networks. I found a great deal with talkmobile, who are on the Vodafone network. The thing is, after my new sim arrived, the bt signal at work improved, so I don't know if I should be switching networks after all.
TLDR - I have sims from 2 networks, bt and talkmobile and want to compare them

I have been swapping my sim card out and testing the speed at various locations. Bt has been much faster, at work 34mbps vs 6mbps. I did a speed test at home and out in a shopping centre and bt had a similar lead.
This makes me suspicious that there is some kind of handbrake on the talkmobile network - are there any kind of settings that I need to update when switching sim cards?

To be clear, the talkmobile Internet works, it is just much slower than with bt.

No should just be able to swap in and out, Talkmobile may just be slower. Vodaphone may be pants in your area or Talkmobile have low priority on the Voda network leading to poor speeds.

Vodafone may also be limiting data speeds for Talkmobile users.

If you have an iPhone, it loads the phone settings agreed between Operator X and Apple (the carrier bundle) when the phone reads the network code from the SIM.

5G support, WiFi calling and VoLTE are common settings that vary between networks the most.

I use talkmobile in a S24 Ultra and normally speeds vary between 150 - 300 depending on location. Even in a slow area it is about 60. I pay £9.99 for 150gb and unlimited minutes/texts.
