Listen up brothers! Every day, Mother Russia sends more able bodied men to the glorious fight, but time and time again these men prove to have brains the size of a facist's ding-dong! Thus, it is time for some much needed education.
Here's the setup;
As you can see, our fire-support section has its hands full dealing with the German fire-support in the upper floors of the target building, whist our assault section has to brave the fire from the lower levels of the building alone. Eventually, the command comes down for the deployment of smoke grenades to cover the assault on the bridge. The following situation then occurs;
Let's be clear here; any squad leader found utilising their precious smoke grenades in this manner will be stripped of his command and shot! Our brothers should not die so needlessly! They will die more usefully, elsewhere.
As you can see, applying smoke to the bridge covers our assault teams for only a short period, and as they emerge from the screen, coughing and disorientated, they will find themselves in open ground, facing prepared enemy positions that they have yet to have been able to fire upon! Our support section will not even be able to attempt to suppress the ground level positions due to fear of hitting their comrades, and so the Germans will make a killing ground without doing a thing!
Ah, command has sent us someone with brains at last! In this scenario, we can see that the correct application of smoke grenades blinds the enemy ground positions. Our support sections can then concentrate fully on suppressing the enemy in the upper floors, whist our assault units advance realtively uncontested. They are then able to prepare to grenade and clear the lower rooms before moving on to the rest of the building (This is where the dying usefully comes in), whilst reinforcements secure the bridge area.
