I just found this article over on Bit-Tech...

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2012/06/01/swiftech-announces-apogee-drive-ii/1#last

I has an Apogee drive, and it was a tremendous piece of kit. It ended up failing because I broke the plastic barbs that were integrated - I'm glad they've moved away from that model.

Can't wait to get one - I'll use it in conjunction with my existing D5 pumps to get my flow rate up through the roof - then I'll be able to build my peltier monster cooler unit....

Mwah mwah mwah!

All I need now is OCUK to start stocking Koolance Quick release fitttings...

:)

I had an apogee drive too, they are awesome. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/441/123wa.png/ cpu never idled above ambient. I stole the pump from it though for my new watercooling loop :D

What did you do with the pump from it after you broke the barbs? It has a laing ddc pump in it which are still pretty expensive, barbs are not part of it.

Mine didn't have what I'd recognise as a DDC pump.... certainly not by way of outer. Its a completely different shell than my 2 DDC's in my server.

I think I've kept it - I've a big box of watercooling bits and bobs. I presume it's in there...

Hold on - what's this in the top of my pile of bits....

Correction - I see what you mean about the DDC being on top. Is it really just a DDC pump inverted on a waterblock? ie could I just buy a replacement top for it and use it as a pump?

yes that's why I did...you just need a top for it. make sure to keep the o-ring

the apogee drive is a ddc pump mounted onto an apogee gt waterblock. the apogee drive 2 is a modified ddc pump on top of an apogee hd block.

If you remove the 'swiftech apogee drive' sticker it will look exactly like it :D

The mounting flanges threw me. Thansk for the heads up. Now I know how I'll re-use that bit of kit :)

Yes it does!

I am, however, a little weary of the barb mounting sockets - because they sit proud of the main housing, the same problem I had with 2 of my Apogee units might occur - that being if I over-tighten the mounts and then split the socket.

The fact that the reviewer calls the barbs compression fittings puts me off his review somewhat. Not sure what to make off the different coloured tops. Guess we, like the reviewer, have to wait for the next video....

I got one here in UK, brand new, anyone want it?:D
I bought it directly from Swiftech.

weve got one here and ill be testing it tonight / tomorrow how ever off the system the DDC is ones nosy bugger on top of this block. Ill see what it like fitted but if this is how its going to sound i don't think ill be keeping it.

When tested mine it wasn't loud, on full speed was as normal pump, but I had some air bubbles in the loop so I guess it will be quiter when get rid of air.
