Hi all,

I'm in the process of researching a X99 build which will likely include a 5960X and 2 GTX 980s. I know that to overclock, the i7 needs some sort of water cooling, and I am considering adding the video cards to the loop later on.

I have been trying to find the Swiftech H220x somewhere in the UK, but to no avail. I do like the idea that it comes as a closed loop, but can then be repurposed for a larger loop. However I'm not sure how strong the pump would be for the intended loop, and I am impatient to want it shipped from the USA.

So, I'm wondering, do you think it would be a better idea to just go and get a H100i or similar and then get a completely custom loop if I decide to go that way?

Thanks.

I am currently looking at several options, full custom loop or a semi-custom loop using the H220x.

H220x is exceptional value for money and I was considering adding a GPU block and an additional 140 to give me a budget WC loop.

Totally agree, but the unavailability in the uk is a pain.

In the end I got the Kraken X60 AIO as it has a larger radiator. Can't comment on temps yet as I'm having to rma my motherboard.

If it was available in the UK or even the EU I would have gotten the Swiftech as reviews show it does outperform the H100i with the option of adding a GPU loop later on and it works very well.

They are also bringing out a 280mm version for 140mm fans, H240X and it should be available around october'ish but again supply in the UK/EU is poor otherwise I could easily see people jumping ship to Swiftech.

Maybe Corsair have a contract within the EU to try and not have many places stocking Swiftech items, Has happened before with other companies.

I have found somewhere in Europe that can ship to the Uk as soon as they have stock I can't mention who or how much as it goes against the forum rules.

But they should have stock next week.

Don't suppose you could send me the info via trust could you pretty please :)

If I was rebuilding, I wouldn't buy a H100i again. Performance wise it's excellent, it is however pretty noisy (I tried switching out the bundled fans with quieter ones but it impacted quite a bit on performance, so switched back in the original ones), and the Corsair link software that comes with it is one of the most buggy, poorly designed and frustrating pieces of software I've ever used.

Just waiting to see if the EK GPU block OcUK are selling for £69.95 is compatible with the backplate from Aqua Computers and then i have my build...

I'm with Digitalle with regard to the link software, I uninstalled it and use the PWM headers on my motherboard to control the fans. With the software removed and aftermarket fans I am 100% happy with my H100i.

The swiftech looks excellent but I couldn't source one at the time.

Software isn't something Corsair do particularly well sadly.

After much scratching my head today I put my r9 290 up for sale, ordered an Asus Strix GTX 970 as it is uber quiet and some SP120 QE HP fans along with a H105.

PC should be super quiet, total cost £300 including a GPU upgrade rather than £450-£500.

One day I will get to WC my rig!

H240X has been released! Nowhere in the UK has them. :(. As regards to the H100i, it's not bad at all, I agree the fans aren't great (swapped them for GT15s) and plugged them into the motherboard so no Link rubbish. I'll get the Swiftech though as I fancy a new toy.

I actually think the corsair link software is very stable and reliable now, I have been using it for several months now with nps, fan curves work perfectly, picks up all temps, does not cause any errors. just works flawlessly. dunno why people have probs with it.

The only niggle I could say about it is the limited amount of fan curve points you can create. other than that yes it will do until I go full custom wc in a few weeks

My next pruchase will be the Corsair Link Mini Commander, I like the idea of a six fan controller that is out of sight and can modify the fan profiles in Windows.

I'd buy the H240-X over the Corsair H110 for my new build in a heartbeat... if I could find anywhere that stocked Swiftech stuff! I know it's new but I can't even find the H220-X anywhere within Europe. :(

H240-X is available in EUrope for preorder. I contacted them and was told they are expecting limited delivery soon, I paid and now I am waiting for the delivery whenever it may be.

Added: H-240X show
