If you had read my thread saying l was going to upgrade my components in my custom loop, the 1st upgrade was the Rad > BI GTS 360 to a BI GTS 420 Triple 140mm fans, well that knocked of about 4-5'c temp off the overall temps. Well ordered a Swiftech MCP35X-Res for when l finally get my Swiftech MCP35X Pump which is controled by PWM or you can manually set the pump speed, the MCP35x-Res is designed to fit right on top of the MCP35X-Pump which helps to improve the performance of the Pump. The MCP35X-Pump gets good reviews from martinsliquidlab and skinneelabs.com, if you read the review by martinns he does a small mod to the pump using abit of 1/2" tubing about 3" long which improves the performence + helps to get rid of the bubbles formed when the pump reachs a certain speed and l have read that people who have done this mod helps quieting the pump done. Which you will see l have done in photo 2, but l also have done a mod with a straight female 1/4" to 1/4 fitting which allows you to mount the Res some where else in your case with the help of some 50mm Res mounting barckets see photo 2.

1-Shows the Res with the mounting brackets on, the 1st fitting to the right of the Res is the the Straight Female 1/4" to 1/4" which when screwed onto the fitting that comes through the Res floor it will allow you to fitt any 1/4" fitting you want.

2-This photo shows the Res ready to fit anywhere you want in your case + you can see l have done martins mod with 1/2" tubbing.

Martins and Skinnee Labs Reviews-

The cost all together was £36incP&P, the Swiftech-Res is well made as well of the rest of the components, the Res with out the 2 compression fittings is a 125mm in lenght, with the 2 compression fittings 180mm. So if anyone is after a small Res the Swiftech Res would be just the job to fit in case with little space, if a cylindrical res is needed. :)

I saw this mod when looking at the review, there is a good video of it as well. Do you use a side port as an outlet and the bottom for draining or let the water flow straight down and use the bottom as the outlet?

Hi JeffyB, side ports are inlets as well as the top, bottom port outlet[pumpflow] with a bit of luck should be getting the SwiftechMCP35X-Pump soon. :)

Does look a great pump, was thinking of swapping my d5 out for one but at low noise/flow there's little difference between the two so decided to keep my vario.
