I heard that the tubing is quite a tight fit on the barbs on the pump, rad etc so just thought of getting some 1/2 inch hose Looked at tygon or masterkleer, the tygon is 1/2 inch and the masterkleer is 7/16 or 1/2inch. Also is the standard hose on the swiftech good quality ie is it pvc or silicone??

Tight is good, you can actually get away without Jubbly clips.
Top tip.
Put the tubing in warm water for a min or two in order that it softens up before application.

the swiftech tubing is a pain to get on the pump, the res of the stuff should
be easy enough.

I would recommend the tygon 1/2", nice solid tubing that doesnt kink even
if you try. You cant get away without clamping / clipping though!

The Pump barbs are slighly larger diameter, rest is fine though.

I would never put tubing on barbs without clamps, even if it was 7/16 tubing which does give a tight snug fit,i just would'nt take the chance tbh ;)

Cheers, even though I think the kit comes with plastic clips, i heard that they can leak think id rather get some metal jubilee clips instead

Yeah its me first time with watercooling and want to make sure it as safe as possible!!! Only problem is i got 2 pcs to build this week so i wont be able to play with my water cooling to later this week!

Hey rob I just noticed you got an x1900xt, you got this water cooled? i got one on the way and going to use the swiftech block to cool it. Most peoples compaints bout the x1900xt cards is the noise and heat!

It is watercooled mate, use a MCW55 on it, Clocks pretty high on the core, had it to 783 so far :D and it's silent of course & never goes above 45C at those speeds

Don't use the apex kit myself, but i do use Swiftech blocks,Storm for cpu & MCW55 as above

Thats a nice OC there hope i can get somewhere near to that ( want to get about the 700-720 mark). The apex utlra + comes with mcw60 i think, its about the same maybe a degree or so cooler but not sure. Oh do you use the ram sinks i used them on my OC 7900GT seemed to help (mem gets to about 900 core at 680)?

It comes with plastic clips and they are fine and look considerably better that metal clips i think

The plastic ones do look much better and not heard of problems with the swiftech clips, but I think I will get some metal clips anyway, not that expensive i can always use the plastic ones first and see what happens. Anyway Rob im cooling a core 2 duo 6600 its currently running at 3.3 but gets a bit to hot for me under heavy load ( 67 usind TAT) using air cooling (evo-120 its ok not great).

I would expect a considerable drop in temps & you can now aim for a bit higher with your cpu...4Ghz maybe :D You can also clock the nuts of that XT as well ;)

Best of luck when it arrives, have fun mate :D

I found the tubing ok to work with, but they dont give you enough. But the anti-kink coil supplied is trash. It only takes a few hours before the coil becomes a permenant fixture to the tube. Start to remove it, and it just shatters and falls apart into little pieces.
Apart from that, i've never used Ramsinks or tubing clips. The internal pressure from a 12v pump, the length of run and internal diameter do not warrant it. Most leaks occur by not tightening the screwed connectors or damaging the 'o' ring. You can check this by turning on the pump and moving the tube and connectors, if the noise/sound changes then air is in the connections.

Put the hose in hot water for 1-2 mins and then shove it. Otherwise you ain't got a chance of fitting it. The damn tube is small unless you get a 1/2.
