Ok I just got the urge recently to be a big kid and go swimming but mainly for the slides :D

I ain’t been in years and wondered if there were any decent pools in Scotland that had proper big slides. I remember oing to Waterwold in Leith and the Commonwealth pool where they had the stingray slide but dunno if these are still on the go.

There was one pool up north somewhere that had a slide like a big plug hole but can’t remember the name of it.

The ones at the Commonwealth Pool were removed years ago, but the whole pool is now closed for about 2 years I think, while it undergoes refurbishment.

Perth had flumes I believe but it is years since I've been there.

The Olympia in Dundee had four flumes last time I looked, one of a decent speed with a drop at the end, two of a middling speed and one slow flume for kids. It doesn't sound like the one you were thinking of though.

Scotland's not a huge country, but I'd certainly not be travelling from Edinburgh to Inverness just to find a swimming pool with flumes.

Where about's in particular did you have in mind?

Possible options (from quick google):

Aberdeen
Beach Leisure Centre

There is something for everyone at Aberdeen's beachfront leisure complex. The leisure pool is specifically geared to families. It is the ideal place for having fun with many water features to enjoy including waves, a fountain and rapids. Four exciting flumes also complement the pool.

Clydebank
The Play Drome

The Play Drome is a major leisure facility that boasts leisure, traditional and teaching pools complete with wave machine and water slides.

Coatbridge
The Time Capsule

Volcano, Wave Pool, Spaceship, River of Life, River Rapids, 2x100m Flumes, Rubber Ring Ride, T-Rex & Serpent Snake.

Dunbar
Dunbar Leisure Pool

Dunbar Leisure Pool sits above the harbour affording views across the Firth of Forth from both the pool and café. The pool has many features that make it an exciting trip for all the family. The big, yellow flume with its separate splash pool is the main feature of the pool although it also has waves, sprays and a bubble bed.

Dumbarton
The Meadow Leisure Centre

Leisure pool with wave machine and flume.

Dundee
Olympia Leisure Centre

Waves, rapid river, toddler pool, spectacular Cannonball and dive pool.

Edinburgh
Leith Waterworld

This is the City's largest leisure pool where you and your family can venture onto the Flumes or Float through the River run, dodge the Water Cannons or play in the Waterfalls, feel the surf in the wave machine and, if that's all too much relax in the Lagoons or Spa pool.

Falkirk
Mariner Leisure Complex

Central Scotland's all weather leisure complex has a leisure pool with waves, chutes, beach area and children's pool all in tropical atmosphere. There is also a Swedish log cabin sauna and four sunbeds for that all year round tan

Greenock
Waterfront

Swimming at The Waterfront is out of this world too. Your only problem is where to start. Most people head straight for the Leisure Pool with its multiple attraction including: The longest tyre ride in the country. High speed flume ride. Tropical wave pool. Relaxing pool side spa. Ultra safe toddlers section. A meandering lazy river.

Inverness
Aquadome

Whatever the weather you can catch a breath of fresh Highland air in the outdoor Thistle-Shaped Pool. Swim through and join the Drifter Lazy River, past the bubbling geysers and on into the Wave Pool. Relax with the ebb and flow and listen to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach shallows. Lie back in the poolside spa where the warm jets of water complete your visit to Inverness Aquadome.

Paisley
Lagoon Leisure Centre

Fun pool with flume, small pool for families, and wave machine

Well I am near Edinburgh so i was thinking there or Glasgow really, but by the sounds of it they are all closed down and not really a big deal these days. Shame as proper death slide flumes kick ass :)

Dundee Olympia pool is awesome if you don't want to swim ;)

I am not sure if it's changed any in the past 10 years or so but back then there wasn't really anywhere to swim. Flumes were good though and the tiny rapids thing

What about the one I posted in Coatbridge - The Time Capsule (near Glasgow)?

The two 100m flumes sounded interesting....perhaps worth looking into.

speaking of pools who gets rage when everyone is doing lengths in thier own lanes etc then some Berk decides he'll start doing widths

There is a 25m pool there and has been for quite a few years, I know for at least the last eight years but I expect it has been there since it opened, however it isn't actually signposted as far as I remember so unless you know to go through the scabby looking doors on the left you won't find it - if you don't do that then you end up in the "fun" pool which you're right is next to useless for swimming.

Ah cool, I didn't know that :p
Yeah I don't remember seeing any signs but I probably wasn't looking and just assumed that the fun pool was all they had.

Was gonna suggest this. I remember it being ace when I was there a few years ago. Has an ice rink too if that takes your fancy. :)

I might give it a go, been a long time since i was there. Only thing that bothers me is the state of the place and how clean the water is :/
