im currently setting up a home LAN Network and need some advice on what switch to use.

I need a 16 port high speed switch and some of the jargon on specification list are confusing me.

ive been looking at the HP V1410-16 Switch. model number J9560A

Is this a high speed switch? ill be using CAT 6 ethernet cables.

I have a wireless N router

Kind Regards

What exactly do you mean by "high speed"?

That switch supports Gigabit across all ports..
Throughput: up to 23.8 million pps (64-byte packets) = Packets Per Second
Switching capacity: 32 Gbps = The maximum amount of traffic which the switch can handle.

i know there are different bands of wireless router, i was wondering if theres the same kind of thing with routers, would the J9560A be the fastest "band"

I assume you mean the wireless standards?

a/b/g/n and them having different theoretical maximum throughputs?

If yes, then Gigabit (1000BASE-T) is pretty much the quickest you can get at home right now.

Just need to make sure both NICs at the end of the cable support it. :).
