What do you reckon guys?

Is it worth me switching from my Dual Core 930 which with a stock cooler I have sat nicely @ 3.6GHz or will it benefit me to get the E4300?

It depends. In terms of overall system 'feel' you probably won't notice a massive difference. In terms of benchmarks, video encoding, heavy computational applications, then yes, you'll notice an enormous difference.

Does your mobo support C2D's? I haven't seen anything about it before.
If it was just a case of swapping CPU's, I'd say go for it, performance would be much better for gaming and if you could get a reasonable price for the 9XX then it shouldn't be that expensive an upgrade.

Motherboard does support C2D

The mobo has just had a bios update and is now ready to have the C2D 4300 fitted now. There was speculation that this board would never make it but it has.

Before the bios update I was only able to move the fsb to 210 but since the update i can get it to 250 @ 3.74GHz with the temp on a full load being 45c with stock.

Its mainly a video editing and gaming machine at the moment so I thought if the C2D 4300 was enough to blow the 930 away I was going to give the 930 to my missus and get the C2D.

Before, I had doubts about Foxconn boards but this one has been an absolute gem.

I would say yes, the Pentium D 930 at around 3.6ghz is nearly as fast as an e4300, but you can overclock it even further.

I had a Pentium D 930 at 4ghz and then I upgraded to an e6600 (overclocked to 3.6ghz) and WOW, the difference is amazing. Much more responsive and much faster encoding times.
