Oh Canada!
I got a TP LINK SG105E Gigabit Ethernet 5 port switch today. I set it up with one of the 4 Cat 6 ethernet cables coming from my modem (which is also a router) connected to port 1 and I connected my TV and Xbox One to ports 4 and 5. Speeds were horribly horribly slow. I was using CAT5E cables from the switch to the devices in question. I have tried several cables with identical result. I doubt the cables are faulty. The power LED is on and the switch is working but speeds are dreadful.

I have never used a switch before and I need some intensive assistance please and thank you kindly!!

How slow?

How are you testing?

That's a managed switch. How is it configured?

Im testing by seeing how long it takes to load a youtube video. 1 minute vs 2 seconds.

The manual says the switch is plug n play but there is an option to use a setup CD (I have no PC downstream of the switch so that might not be an option) and there is also the old 192.168.0.2 option, which I could access from my TV's web browser but I have not done this.

Downstream off the switch? If you have a PC anywhere on the network it should be able to access the switch (given matching subnets).

You shouldn't be able to notice that the switch is there at all.

A switch should be plug-and-play. With a managed switch you'd expect it to work as a dumb unmanaged switch unless it's deliberately configured not to (not sure why you bought a managed switch for this task).

Is there an easy way to perform a factory reset?

If you have a wired PC you could connect the switch between it and whatever it usually connects to. You've then got a chance to perform some proper tests.

Ok I'll give that a shot. Cheers.
