Ok, basics are simple..
Internet to MODEM/ROUTER.
PC1 Connects directly to that via ETHERNET
A cable is run from the Modem/Router to the LAN Room and into a SWITCH.
Other PCs in the LAN are then all connected directly to the Switch.
All PCs have fill access to the internet and they all have access to each other as they a=should have, blah blah and everythign works as I want it to.
The Modem/Router also has Wireless and thats for the LapTops for the kids, and everythign works great.
Now, last week, the switch started playing up. I have had it for a good few years so I dont mind at all really, its served its purpose and owes me nothing.
Now, rather than go out and buy a new 16Port Switch which aint going to be cheap, I decide to use some older kit. I have a couple of 4-port switches and a Router.
I connect the router's IN-PORT to the Router downstairs, and both switches to the router, and this lets have 4 PCs on one SWITCH, another 4 on the other switch, plus 2 more PCS connected directly to the router.
This works fine, as expected... For about a week.
Now, what has happened all of a sudden, is that the PCs have full access to the internet as normal, but they can no longer see the main PC ( the one downstairs ) and the main PC can no longer see the LAN PCs either??
The Main MODEM/ROUTER is a Linksys WAG54T ( OTTOMH ) and the ROUTER on in the LAN ROOM is a DLINK DI-514
As I said, it has been working fine for a week, so why its suddenly decided to do this I simply dont know???
Anyone got any clues?
