this is driving me nuts

basically i have a motherboard with a dvi input and hdmi input.
i have my monitor connected via a dvi port
i have my tv connected via a hdmi port

however once i plug the tv in, my monitor is undetected even when i search for it only the tv is found. i have to unplug the hdmi cable for it to detect my monitor again

Im aware that my motherboard doesn't allow simultaneous outputs but surely i can switch between the two using the computer? without having to unplug each time

my motherboard is GA-880GA-UD3H
integrated 4250 graphics.

I doubt you would be able to do that. Your motherboard will only send one video signal out it seems. If there are two cables in it will pick the one thats in use at that time?
I'm not sure you can do it with onboard graphics.

I think he means something like being able to switch inputs like on a TV at the press of a button. I don't know about that myself, but I would expect it to be modifiable in the ATI control panel or at least in the registery.
