My latest toy is a Samsung Q210. Very nice.

It has an HDMI output and connects well to my TV, but it is quite laborious to go into Control Panel/Sounds to chane the default from Speakers to HDMI.

Is there a widget that makes this easier - why cant I change the output in the Audio Mixer, or even output to both Speakers and HDMI simultaneously?

OK I see it now. There is a tab in MIXER to switch output. I thought it was just a heading, not a clickable tab!

EDIT:

But it doesn't work. Only changing the`default throught Control Panel works?

Help?

on my vaio, the hdmi audio output is only available when a hdmi device is plugged in. without it the output is hidden. Its handy because with the hdmi device set as default, everything automatically uses it when something is plugged in.

does your not do the same?
