switching fans, 12V or Ground?

If I was going to build the simplest on/off controller for a fan, would a SPST switch be enough, and is it best placed in the 12V or ground circuit?

Or is a DPST switch better and switch both circuits?

Spst is fine. Just break whichever lead you fancy.
