switching from Nvidia to ATI

hello all

i have seen some horror storys on this board in the past from people who have switched graphics card manufactures, but with ATI having some better value cards on the market i'm very tempted to upgrade and go with ati.

my question is: what will i have to do to avoid problems with switching brands? (i know to allways remove the driver first)

sorry if this seems like a silly question to you pros out there :)
