So I'm currently on skys top broadband package, I get around 14Mb, I could do with a bit more download speed but upload is more important.

Is it 100/10 guaranteed or is it up to ?

Hi, it is "up to" but generally most people get a speed that is so near you cant really grumble, like I was on 50mbit and got 48Mbit, now im on 100Mbit and get about 97Mbit... its as near as you will get.

Is virgins still through a cable not through the phone line ?

Yep it is through a coax cable, rather than the phone line.

Are they truly unlimited ?

100Mbit is advertised as unlimited, and not subject to traffic shaping as far as im aware, unlike their other tiers. Although even with traffic shaping the speed reduction only lasts a few hours... unlike other ISPs that give you a download limit, then if you reach it run at a slower speed for the rest of the month. But I know VM other broadband tiers are traffic shaped, but 100Mbit is advertised as unlimited.

I remember they had problems with xbox live is this still the case ?

no problems with xbox live that im aware of and I use xbox live.
