My iPhone 5 and 6s both do this and I don't get why. Below 20% it sometimes drops down fast maybe 20%,14%,5% off in the space of a few minutes. Or it just turns off at 17% for example. I always let it drain below 20% before charging and charge it full before taking off charge... Any ideas why this is? It does get to 1% sometimes

I did see that post but it is suggesting at goes up and down at things like 60%. But, then if plugged back in it goes up to 60% again etc. Mine doesn't do that, I have also obviously got a brand new battery in the 6s and tried a new one in my 5?

It could be a software issue!

The guy at genius bar that I saw said, he has seen lots of people with such a problem. He was suggesting to restore as "new", but for me that didn't help. So you could possibly try that?

I gave my iphone 5 to a friend, which got restore as new and she began with a new apple ID etc. Still has the same issue. Genius bar tried to tell me once I needed to reset my phone as my 'settings/data' had a bug in it
