Hi guys, this is my first post so would like to say hi to everyone. I had a system built from oc back in 2012, and have decided to upgrade my 7950 to a 290. However when i have taken out the 7950, i noticed that my ocz zs 750 watt psu has only two 6 pin connector leads. Been reading that the 290 has an 8 pin connector. Do i need an adaptor or does the 290 come with it.

I would go for a new PSU personally, if it doesn't have the right connectors, thats kind of telling you something.

I'm pretty sure my 280x came with a molex adapter.

But as above, if your PSU doesn't have the right connectors, it's probably not up to the job to begin with.

Saphire Tri X has the best cooler I think. I would personally get the 290x over the 290 but it depends on your circumstances. If you can afford the X then defo get that.

ah cheers for the info will have a look on oc at both and make a decision (got 3 days to decide). Was going to wait for the 3 series cards to come out but i gotta scratch that itch :D

just one more question, do i have to uninstall my current amd drivers from the 7950.Before installing a 290?

I currently have evolve or whatever its called and that is at 14.2 i think for drivers.

I always do a full uninstall of the drivers. Turn it off fit the new card then turn it back on and install new drivers
