Switching secondary H/D's across PC's

Noob question I'm sure but just wanted to double check.
In one PC I have a few hard drives (not where the O/S is installed) with mainly movies stored on them.
On another PC I have the same. Can I simply remove the H/D, place it in the other PC and everything be all ok? Files untouched etc?
One PC is Win7 and the other XP if that makes any difference.

In answer to all three questions, yes. I put an old IDE drive from a PC running Win98SE into a one running Vista and everything was still there when I booted up.
