switching to intel. what to do?

If for a SSD use the software tool to do a factory reset (or is it secure erase?) for max performance too. I forgot to do that on my last install and lost a chunk of performance. Did a reset followed by another install and got it back.

This is new to me. What difference does this make, and why?

Factory reset sets it back to max performance as it is when you first buy it. I just did a quick format when reinstalling and lost 25-30% performance.

if i ever can afford a new rig, i'll do a fresh install. i thought i was about to get a new rig when i created this thread but it kind of fell through so it's not really relevant anymore. but i appreciate the input.
