Hi

Been using Sygate Personal Firewall for the last 6 months, love it but since it isnt updated anymore does this make it a bad choice? If yes what other free firewalls could i use? I have been looking at GhostWall that seems ok.

Thanks

hmmm, i use pc cillin and it updates every single day.

it should have updated atleast a few times in 6 months, lots of viruses come out in 6 months.

Sygate Personal Firewall is no longer supported since it got bought by Symantec i think. :(

Symantec's Internet Security is pretty good as the firewall is fairely easy to configure to fit into your requirements.

Yes but Symantec software is 1) not free AFAIK and 2) a memory hog like all norton and mcafee software.
I can't think of any other good free firewalls as if there was one, Symantec would have already bought it :p

Just a quick question as i still use Sygate personal, But why would you want a firewall to autoupdate? If you have a NAT router then a basic firewall is more than enugh to cover your behind.

Nforce4 firewall works well for me.. Thats if you have an Nforce4 MB though. I know other people have had problems but mines been fine.
