Sygate personal firewall problems

Today when i turned on my PC i got a lot of errors and the send microsoft info on error box thing etc.. it said that sygate firewall encountered a problem and needed to close, this happened several times and so i have un istalled it. Any ideas what caused the problem?
also now that it seems broken can anyone recomend a good alternative for it?

Just get rid and download Kerio

I had used this firewall for a long time , thought it was good until Panda found a keylogger in it . I ditched it and now use Zone Alarm ,no problems with this.
