sync iphone apps with ipad?

I won an ipad in our xmas raffle and have set it up on my itunes account but I can't work out how to sync the apps I have on my phone to the ipad?

can someone give me a pointer please?

starting to realise that not all apps are compatible anyway so downloading the ipad versions of the ones I use regular
