Hey guys,

I’ve been have a few sync issues lately – getting constant drops :(

I’m with UKFS, MAX 30.

I’ve put my router (ST 585i) on the master socket with a brand new ST microfilter and in 20 minutes or so it hasn’t dropped, which is an improvement.

However, I’m still getting line errors.

What could be causing this? I know my exchange is RED until repairs on Friday, but that shouldn’t be affected my sync/line issues.

Could it be that my routers on the way out, I can’t test my Netgear because that’s crap on my line anyway :p

Any ideas?

Cheers,

SW.

In the last few days I've been trying things out with my internal wiring...

Hence I didn’t see your reply :)

I've removed all the internal wiring for the master socket so that there is only a direct line to my room/router.

I changed the filters and the modem line to the router, but still problems persist...

I know interleaving is turned on for my line.

The syncs I've been getting have been reasonable 2 MB+, I've gone from being on a 512kb profile to a 1 MB one because I've stopped rebooting the router quite so often :(

I'm currently getting:

Every now and then though, the router drops to a sub 2 MB sync, and the snr increases to something quite high like 22dB I noticed today?

The errors are ever present :(

Thats a problem with your line, i would contact BT and inform them you have multiple CRC errors on the line.
:)

Thanks for the reply!

Should I not get on to my ISP - when I've rang BT in the past over broadband issues, they've always been a bit funny :(

Hi guys,

I'm still having ongoing issues...

Basically, our line became almost unusable over the Christmas period, very crackly to start with and then it would get progressively worse as a conversation would go on until you could barely hear the person on the other end!

We raised a line fault we BT who acknowledged there was a fault with our line… They came out yesterday in the morning, tested the master socket, where our phone and router has been since we started having problems, and the engineer told us that the problem was, ‘out there somewhere,’ gazing out the window… He also joked, stating that he considered the BT network to be ‘archaic’ and about 15 years behind the rest of developed Europe – not inspiring me with too much confidence.

Anyway, he said that he would test the outside line/exchange etc, and that the fault would be fixed within the day.

About 3 hours later another engineer arrived, tested the master socket and said that there was a fault with the internal wiring (even though we'd literally just put it all back together) and that we’d have to pay the £190 BT call out charge and a £30 admin fee to clear the ‘fault’ off of their computers

He left with the master socket wiring still exposed and the face plate hanging off, advising us that if the crackly line still persisted, to call them back or report a fault again.

This is before I’ve even mentioned the broadband issues, which I suspect are related…

Just noticed too, I'm downloading on a 256kb profile (30kbps...), I'm actually uploading faster - 45kbps!

Been syncing at 2816kb for the last 3 hours or so, acording to my router log :(
