Sync & noise margin

Recently my noise margin has increased to 15.5dB from around 7dB, this has caused my sync speed to drop to 6112k from 8128k.

My line has been stable at the full 8128k for over 10 months & was wondering why it has done this?

It does sound like your target SNR margin has been changed to 15dB. That's odd because there's no reason it should happen on a stable line. It will happen automatically if your line is unstable, but even then it generally increases in increments (6>9>12>15) rather than going straight to 15. Might be worth talking to your ISP.

If I restart it stays at 15, I've tried different modems & microfilters and no change.

The only thing I can do is drop the SNR Percentage in the DG834GT to 1%, this puts the sync to 7904 & noise margin to 9.4dB

I posted the same question to ADS24 a week ago & got a reply..

Hello,

The noise margin will only change to keep sync of your line, if your line keeps sync the noise margin will again drop back down to 7db, also with the peak usage it's counting wrong we are aware of it and fixing it. It won't affect your account in anyway or cost.

Kind Regards,
Joe Lockheart
