Syncing Googlemail Contacts to iPhone 4S?

Hi guys,

I've just bought an iPhone 4s today, which will be the first time I've used an Apple device besides an iPod. I'm just trying to import my contacts from my googlemail account that I backed up from my Android phone I've just gotten rid of, but seem to be getting to my wit's end with it.

In essence, I've followed this guide here, and everything appears to go swimmingly. However, as soon as I finish and click save, I'm be presented with a "Password Incorrect" prompt. Now I know for a fact I have the password right, I've even changed it via my laptop so I'm absolutely 100% certain. However, I can't seem to get past this, it just keeps reappearing, and reappearing and reappearing. Does anyone have any suggestions, or has perhaps encountered this problem before? I'd be tearing my hair out now if I had any left (thanks hereditary male pattern baldness).....:(

Thanks, Mike

This is exactly how I sync all of my contacts to Gmail.

It has worked flawlessly for me. Have you double-checked all other settings? Is your email a @gmail.com or @googlemail.com address? (I seem to recall either does work but there is a way to set a "master"?)

I spoke about the OP's issue recently. It is a common problem that has existed since the first iPhone 3G came out, with iOS having MS Exchange within. I recall Google themselves stating on their forum that it was due to the way ms exchange was implemented in iOS - which could be true from my perspective.

Sadly there is no solid fix and I have given up using gsync and imported my contacts to icloud. It is utterly stupid that this problem still hasn't been fixed after existing for so many years.

did you enable 2 factor authentication? if so thats your issue...

also make sure you can log in with webmail without being asked for a captcha (assumiong you have NOT enabled 2 factor)

My GF didn't have 2-step verification enabled, and she had the display captcha issue, so it's not that.
