Hi guys,

I've been using FreeFileSync for about 2 years now to 'Mirror' my primary data folder to its backup on an external drive. Until very recently the two folders have been nearly identical in their size but I'm starting to notice slight discrepancies...

^^ What do you think? Is the program simply not copying unnecessary temp files or something :(

I know the difference is slight but know my luck the files not being synced are probably really important! F: is the source btw.

I've closed the program now and I'm assuming the log is lost?

Poking around though, there are few bits that are excluded?

I'm thinking some of that could be my music collection which is stored there? Specifically the album art covers etc.

Those exclusions could explain the file size discrepencies. A more accurate way to compare is to go into the drives, select all the files & folders and properties on there, that way you're not looking it the size of folders such as RECYCLER & system volume information.

Search for desktop.ini and thumbs.db on both folders and remove all traces of them

Then compare again

There's 25 thumbs.db in the source folder that don't appear on the synced folder - I think we may be on to something :p
