I'm planning on getting a DS110j or a DS111 fairly soon, but I'm just wondering what my options would be for running a torrent client on it? As I'm only a rather basic Linux user, would it be easy to set up? Performance? Remote management features?

It already has a Built in TOrrent Client that is Fantastic with more options that you can throw a stick at, You can use the inbuilt search engine too :D oh an i have the synology app on my iphone so i can search a torrent and just tap the torrent and press sent to Server and it does is all remotely ;) get one there Amazing !

Oh wow, that more than answered my question. :D Yeah, I think I might go for the DS211j actually, give me some room for space upgrades later on. :) Brilliant, thanks a lot!

top man ! you wont regret it ! they are a lot faster than mine i have the old 108j that is nearly 5 years old and its just as stable as the day i got it, if you want to have a play around with the thing let me know i can create you a account on it and u can just log in on my web address, the nice thing if u can create user account so i can give access to certain bits and not others and also set how long u want the account active for etc etc very cool

Which app is that??...i have an iphone4 myself and a synology NAS unit myself and what you said seems really handy for me.

The send to server option??...is that only available through the inbuilt torrent client on the synology...reason i ask is because i use a site where i download my torrents from but usually i do it from my laptop at home.

Its Called "SynoDS" and is Fab its got a Inbuilt browser in the app that u can trawl torrent sites on and just press the torrent and it asks u what u want to do with it. I think the App was a Quid but tbh its so good it was worth all 100 pennies :-)

Cheers found it....£2.39 though which isnt too bad....i looked at it before but didnt pay much attention to it....will download it later and give it a whirl on my Synology at home.

yup i use it quite a lot great app, I also use "DS file" "DS Audio" and "DS photo" those 3 are free. but the SynoDS is by far the most usefull, You do need to setup your server twice tho one for when your on the Lan and also a Wan profile that either links to your static i.p or a dyndns account etc. i have a www. pointing to a DYNDNS.org as im on Virgin i just put the www. in for the settings and it works a treat
