any body got a Synology Disk Station DS209j finally had enougth of the icy box nas rubbish and want a decent nas thanks
 
just fed up with the icybox dropping drives etc was thinking of getting a synology 209j just wondering if any body else using one main use would be streaming to a nmt
 
From what I've heard the 209j is a bit slow... the higher models are apparently a bit better.

icy box are generally dire :S wish I'd never bought one, the first one I had died after just a day the replacement still randomly loses config data or corrupts a file.
 
If you are looking to stream videos across network to different PC at the same time, the best choice is to go for DS209 or DS209+II

Are those units megabyte/s or megabit/s?

If its 11MByte/s then thats perfectly acceptable even if it is slower than the higher models, if its mbits that a little bit slow :S
 
thanks guys ill get either a 209 or 209j not sure yet still deciding are the synologys stable not crashing like the icyboxs etc
 
I have also been looking at the DS209j because I really want a good central storage to be able to backup to from all my computers and the various download methods is also tempting me so I don't have to leave a computer on to download things overnight.

Has anyone tried the DS209j yet as I am wondering if its worth the investment because I need to get two hard drives for it as well so it will cost me £250 to get it.
