Synology DS212+ Or Similar Sabnzbd and Sickbeard

Hi, Has anyone got an Synology DS212+ Or Similar NAS just wondered how well it works and if there are any limitations you have found with the Synology NAS in regards to running Sabnzbd and Sickbeard. I.e unraring etc.

I'm replacing my Win Server to cut down on power bills and plan on using this NAS to Stream to WDTV's/Squeezebox and download content etc.

I have the ds210j, and it works great - not had any issues with running sabnzbd, unraring is absolutely fine. As a NAS and streaming solution, i'd highly recommend it. fwiw, mine is streaming to a jailbroken appletv2 with XBMC on it, lovely front end, nice remote

Have you looked at the HP Microsevers?

About £130 after cashback, low power and will run sabnzbd, sickbeard and xbmc all at the same time.

I haven't really thought about using HP Microserver the most important thing for me is it being low power as I will be running it 24/7.

Microservers are very low usage and 100000000000000000000% better than any NAS device.

For the money, the NAS devices are a total rip off imo.

If all you'll be doing is downloading, storing and (light) streaming then the Synology will be fine. Only issue you'll have is if you need to transcode video which is basically a no go on a DS212 and out of the 2, the HP will be better suited to this (although power consumption is roughly double on the HP).
