Send it back. that's some rotten luck!

I've installed about 40 of them, no errors!

send it back for another

I cannot believe it. I'd have bought one from OcUK but they don't have it in stock and so tried two different places and both are screwed.

Do you have an unusual fitting method? one that involves drop kicking them down the stairs? :p

No, I've always gone for the Alley~Oop pass across the room to the throw down dunk. Pretty sure I saw a youtube video on this method...

Buy a HGST, they beat WD in the reliability tests!

I got 3 other WD disks and 2 Samsung Greens and never had any issues, all well past their warranties now. I'm wondering if it is the couriers doing the drop kick method =/

Replacement WD Red HDD turned up today. Plugged it in, powered it up and done.

Thank you for the help trouble shooting guys. Wish me luck this HDD doesn't corrupt on my now ha.

If you ever get to go to a working courier depot you will cringe, unloading a van consists of the parcel being thrown out of the back like a rugby ball into a cage or onto the floor. This is based on three different courier depot's where i've been given access for a variety of reasons. It's a miracle HD's ever turn up in one piece let alone functional.

I think there was some footage on panorama or dispatches maybe that circulated the web for a bit. I was appalled seeing a TV just fall off the convey belt.

It's pretty much impossible for a courier to damage a properly packaged (the plastic vacuum formed suspension things) hard drive when it's powered down, unless they shred the thing or run it over. You've just had rotten luck.
