Hi all, I was looking to buy the Nvidia Shield TV for it's 4k support, and since I own a few 4k videos which will no doubt grow, I was looking into buying a NAS to stream those videos on the Shield TV, now I know that the DS215J isnt going to transcode 4k, but as long as I encode my files into a format that Plex on the Shield TV is happy with, there should be no issues with using this NAS for 4k video streaming right? I'm not totally clued up on NAS solutions, but as long as I dont have a need for transcoding, it shouldnt be an issue I hope? :)

If you have any slightly better/around that price point NAS solutions for my needs then im happy to hear that as well, as I havent researched every product :) thank you for your help

I recently treated myself to a Shield TV to have a play around with and its great as a media player.

All my films are stored on a Synology DS413j with 4x4tb WD Red drives in it.

Plex will play pretty much everything but give Kodi a try instead. Its a far nicer UI and will play anything you through at it.

I only considered transcoding incase of incompatibility, but i'd imagine Plex/Kodi on a Shield TV will play pretty much anything 4k without issue right? I wont actually be looking to stream the media anywhere else so it should be fine :)

And I will give Kodi a try for sure thank you, the Shield TV should arrive tomorrow
