Hi,

So we recently updated our NAS range with a few new products as we believe that this market should have a bit more attention as a lot more people are looking for external storage which can be accessed from anywhere. NAS is not only a great way of storing data they can be used as streaming devices and even surveillance backup drives allowing you to access your cameras all in one place.

I could not possibly list all the applications and features of the Synology NAS units as they have a lot involved in each unit but I will try and show some of the benefits.

The software included in the synology NAS units now is making them much more than storage drives. The software allows you to use the NAS in many different way whether you are a business user, gamer or just looking for a backup streaming device for your TV.

The software is different with each brand but we are focusing on the units that comes with 4K Transcoding from Synology which allows you to convert files in to a compatible format for your device i.e Converting an MP4 file to the resolution of your mobile seamlessly.

"Video transcoding refers to the process of converting video files originally unsupported by a media player into a compatible format and resolution. Different Synology NAS models are equipped with different transcoding capabilities. You can stream your video collection on your Synology NAS to a media player using Video Station, DS video or Media Server. "

The possibilities of Synology NAS units has improved a lot over the years with them focusing on smooth streaming and the amount of Useful apps included to make your experience so much more enjoyable and easy.

Synology have been been improving the way they keep your data secure so you have piece of mind when using the NAS unit with cloud backup and Multiple Raid options. They also have security add-ons such as AES encryption, 2-Step verification, IP block & allow list, Antivirus packages, firewall, and DoS attack prevention.

I do see the simplicity/easy of use of these units but £400 for a 4 bay unit when you can get/build a simple server at the same specs for £150.

Hi,

These do not include drives you have to buy them separate. NAS units have to have a lot of work put into them with regards to the software so this why people pay that price.

They do have prices ranging from about £100 up.

You could build your own if you know what your doing but these are great for a plug in and play device with lots of functionality.
