Synology roadmap - 1621+

If I recall Synology update their hardware on 3 ish year cycles, anyone know of DS+ product line updates? Considering a couple of options. Sell my TS-873A QNAP and replace with a 1621+ or DS923+ ort run TrueNAS inside Proxmox with HBA passthrough.

Have you ever considered any other hardware? Albeit need to mange yourself, such as a hp microserver of something running freenas. I gave up with the off the shelf products, fed up of the rapid end of life support.

I have run TrueNas before quite happily, scale and core. It is a consideration again with HBA pass through etc.
