Good afternoon all,

I've done a lot of work over the past 4 days getting a clonezilla server + cloning environment up and running for future deployments, only to get stuck on OEM licensing.

Just looked on 7 different HP PCs & laptops with a keyfinder that were individually prepared & they all have the same ProductID and CD Key. But when using this key to activate a restored machine, no luck!

Using this OEM licensing, can I Sysprep a computer in a such a way that when the image is restored on to a new machine all machines will stay activated?

I just built four laptops with windows 7 + clonezilla.

After building the first laptop i did a clone image. Then imaged the other there laptops with the image. After booting in to windows I need to run newsid (application) and change the computer name. As well as type in the oem cdkey from the sticker. If the windows activation does not allow you to change the cdkey you can do it from the command line. Just google, windows 7 change cd key. All four laptops have activated and joined the domains with out any problems. It took me less than a days work to do it. [ just thought i would add that ;) ]

But what we are going to do for our desktop image project is sysprep it and then just manually enter the cdkey on boot up that way we can use the oem keys.

The only way to install windows 7 to more than one pc with same key is if you purchase volume license.
