Hi Guys

I have two identical laptops that I need to rebuild this Saturday for a friend. I want to build one, and build an image of the laptop to build the other one, and for keep the image incase anything goes wrong.

Can anyone tell me how to use sysprep, it's been a long time since I have used it.

It is XP Home, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in Advance

just use acronis true image to save an image, then restore it to laptop 2, and rename the computer, should all work fine :)

install xp sp3, and don't supply a key when installing (so you can enter if after)

renaming will do so much, but you will still have duplicate SID's if you network them together at any point.

Thanks bledd and Azraeluk. I will do some digging.

Yeah, I read that XP doesn't care about SIDs.

I have integrated SP3 into an XP Disk (which is brilliant - saves the 1 hour of Windows Update!) so when it comes to inserting the key, just hit next?
