Hello,

I abandoned PC Gaming around 3 years ago and am looking to put a system together again. I would like to play the newest games at a reasonable level, not necessarily everything maxed out. Could someone give me some idea of how long the following spec might last before upgrading is required?

As core components I am considering.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Asus P5K Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB)
Samsung SM-2032BW Pebble 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black

I am open to suggestions on the hard disk, I dont have massive storage requirements, would like something fast. Also, is it worth the jump to Vista yet?

Can someone also suggest a power supply also.

Thanks,

Dave

I'd get the GeiL CL4 RAM that is on offer. As for a hard disk a Samsung Spinpoint 500GB should do, very quiet and fast. And Vista is constantly improving, I suppose it's personal preference whether to jump on the bandwagon.
